I have been a Licensed Massage Therapist in practice since 1994, having studied a NY-state based curriculum for massage therapy at Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy. I am certified in Perinatal Massage Therapy and practice multiple bodywork modalities including trigger point, deep tissue, myofascial release and perinatal massage.

I have been fortunate to use massage therapy as an integral part of my clients’ management programs toward regaining healthy and whole function. I have worked closely in long and short-term treatment with people managing physical and shock traumas, chronic and syndromal illness, compromised spinal function and joint and bone replacements having, worked for 7 years in the chiropractic field using massage therapy. I am also a certified perinatal massage therapist and have worked extensively with people in and around the childbearing cycle, both in dysfunction and health, throughout my career as a body worker. More than thirty years of bodywork experience with private clients and chiropractic patients has taught me the sensitivity and skills to effectively help people realize less pain and emotional and mental strain arising from stress and trauma-induced conditions. As well, my work has aided in my clients’ general stress reduction and health promoting goals.

My years of experience in body therapy has helped me to cultivate significant sensitivity and awareness regarding somatic, emotional, mental and energetic distress. I became interested in more transformative work, witnessing how early experience and traumatic stress can impact and impede the cultivation of health and well-being. I became curious to find ways other than mechanical therapies to bring about longer lasting healing for people. This led me to Somatic Experiencing trauma therapy and  Somatic Experiencing Touch Therapy. I am inspired to practice SE and SE Touch Therapy work with clients using this keen sensitivity to the complex layering of life experience and stress physiology and how these can impact a person’s vitality and health.

I listen very closely to clients' reports and goals for their SE work and proceed gently, at a pace that is comfortable, non-invasive and brings help in recognizing where they may get overwhelmed in the experience of doing internally-oriented work. With fine attunement to the compounded interweaving of life experience with any negative impacts of stressors and trauma, I strive to facilitate and promote peoples’ recovery and healing, with the transformative tools that Somatic Experiencing  and Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy provide.

Additionally, I am a Level 1 Internal Family Systems practitioner, and bring parts work to my sessions. I am certified to bring Bodynamic Analysis to my sessions and am a certified Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy Practitioner.

I am an abstract and representational painter., having studied fine art at Purchase College (SUNY) and received my BFA from Pratt Institute in 2005. Curiosity about abstract and literal relationships between different factors of observation; those in the natural ands man-made worlds, and those in the world of human interactions, have led me to have a strong ability to pick these pieces of information up quickly, easily and sensitively. Training in observing and discerning different features and parts of subject matter in art, enables me to grasp, too, the ways in which energy, stress and vitality dynamics show up as parts of one's interior living environment. In this way, I am able to help a person sort out which areas are causing distress and which more healthful areas may need cultivation. Above all, helping people grow in their capacity for attention and a gentle observer approach to their internal worlds can offer healing and compassion in peoples' lives.
